Compensation
The universal law of compensation embodies the truth that "we get what we sow", on many different levels.
This great law shares a strong correspondence to the law of rhythm and the law of polarity; "the swing of the pendulum to the right, is the swing of the pendulum to the left."; compensation demonstrates a counterbalance of the rhythmic pendulum, from one pole to the other.
while compensation is ever at work throughout the universe, i find this law extremely relevant when referred to the mental state of individuals; "one who enjoys keenly, is subject to keen suffering"; "one who feels little pain is capable of feeling little joy."
"Every faculty which is a receiver of pleasure, has an equal penalty put on for abuse."
It's a common occurrence for people to sacrifice their inner happiness in the pursuit of materialistic possessions, while others who live a 'lower class' lifestyle with less possessions, may hold a richer heart and a more vibrant sense of joy for the smaller things in life.
"poor people are compensated with a rich soul"
those who are incapable of feeling pain, either in their own experiences, or in the form of compassion towards others, are also unable to experience true joy; by stating this, I don't necessarily mean pain which overpowers an individual, i mean the ability to feel, understand, and hopefully transmute the pain into compassion, joy, or love.
AS stated above, compensation works on many different levels and corresponds to many different laws... for example, the law of cause and effect embodies the truth that for every cause there is a corresponding effect; thus, someone who does good will receive good, and someone who does bad will receive bad.
also, if an individual desires something, they must put in the required effort to be compensated; "each individual is compensated in a like manner for that which they have contributed."
in relation to the law of polarity, all things are dual, one against another; give and it shall be given to you... thou shalt be paid exactly for what thou hast done, no more, no less || nothing venture, nothing hath || who doth not work shall not eat || Curses always recoil on the head of whom imprecates them ||
this duality is also evident in the animal kingdom where it has been observed that no creatures are favourites, but a certain compensation balances every gift and every defect.
this duality also underlies the nature and condition of man; every excess causes a defect; every defect causes an excess; for everything we miss, we have gained elsewhere, for everything we gain, we lose elsewhere; if riches are increased, they are used quicker.
with correspondence to the law of action, it is necessary that your thoughts, emotions, words and actions, are in sync with your desires in order to be successfully compensated; if your thoughts and emotions are in one direction, yet your words and actions are in the other direction, not only will you not succeed in your endeavours, but you will be compared to a hamster on a wheel, moving, yet staying in the same place, unable to achieve your desire/s.
for me, understanding this law has helped me to realise how important everything we do truly is... from the small things to the big things; anything, is actually everything.
whatever we want, we must first give; if we want to succeed with the big things; we must first succeed with the small things, for the small things, are also the big things.
the law of compensation applies to anyone and everything, nothing is compromised, everything is compensated.
