Rhythm
The universal law of rhythm embodies the truth that rhythm is manifested in everything; "everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates."-the kybalion.
In correspondence to the law of vibration, nothing is fixed, everything is in a constant state of motion; the universe is involved in an infinite dance... swaying, flowing, swinging back and forth, from one polarity to the other.
this great law relates to the law of perpetual transmutation of energy; everything is either growing or dying, energy is constantly changing forms, from the formless into form.
rhythm is ever at work, demonstrating the rise and fall of moods, thoughts, civilisations, planets, universes, etc; all vibrations move to certain rhythms, these rhythms establish seasons, cycles, stages of development, and patterns.
the energy of the universe can be compared to a pendulum; "the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left", rhythm compensates.
the phenomena of rhythmic compensation demonstrates a counterbalance of the rhythmic pendulum, from one polarity to the other; this is explained further in the law of compensation and the law of polarity; this is especially important for the mental state of individuals... "one who enjoys keenly, is subject to keen suffering"; "one who feels little pain is capable of feeling little joy."
"Every faculty which is a receiver of pleasure, has an equal penalty put on for abuse."
the law of rhythm will teach an individual to keep their balance in all situations that arise; thus, not allowing their moods to swing too far in one direction.
For me, understanding the law of rhythm has helped me to neutralize the rhythmic swing of the pendulum by accepting it, instead of resisting it; i have learned to find and accept my own rhythm.
i found that my rhythm is ever changing, some days i feel like resting, reflecting, working, adventuring, etc... these are all natural phenomenons which should be accepted without resistance; i also learned that everyone has a unique rhythm which can only be discovered by the beholder.
not only does the rhythm adjust with my days, but with periods of time i find myself changing careers, goals, plans, dreams, literally anything we can think of eventually changes; this is law, this is the way of the ever flowing universe.
bruce lee said "Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.
the above quote shows a powerful significance to rhythm, as it accounts for everything which goes on in our life; i genuinely believe that life is way too precious to be stressing, resisting and fighting the perpetual flow of rhythmic energy.
life is about change, and through rhythm, the universe teaches an individual that change is crucial in order to continue growing... the universe is constantly expanding, and by moving in sync with the universal flow, the universe will reward; by resisting the universal flow, the universe will create uncomfortable scenarios in order to force change.
with practice of this great law, an individual will rise above the negative parts of a rhythmic cycle by using the law of neutralisation; this is achieved by standing firm in the desired pole, while not allowing things to penetrate through their consciousness; the key to mastery is balance.
